It’s hard to put in words what this one little tab means to me…. There’s 20-30 more of them in the shop that aren’t perfect but this one is.
I’ve been dreaming of “laser cut parts” in house my whole life. When I was 13-14 years old I remember seeing some of the first laser cut tabs on trophy trucks and it blew my mind.
Around 17 years old I met Phil Hayes and he had a water jet, I’d draw templates and he’d draw them and cut them for me. One day he said, either you’re gonna learn how to draw this stuff or I’m done making it for you. I learned he kept cutting my stuff.
In 2012 I partnered with a business guy and we bought and old pile of shit that barely ran, but it did the job… But I never learned how to use it and the “cad guy” we@had at the time was reluctant to show me. He used it as leverage to stay employed… it was there everyday and it was just problem after problem I couldn’t really CREATE.
Fast forward 10 more years and WE HAVE LASERS! Today I drew parts in my office, walked out and turned this thing on step by step… And learned how to run it.
I got an idea of how the light shape works and how to adjust the beam. I learned how to center the node in the nozzle. I measured the OD of the holes and fine tuned the offset till they read .501. I nested a few simple things and man, it’s wild to take it all in.
Like all things new, the begging of the day was challenging.
I’m so grateful for so many things but I’m no particular order, thank God, my mom and dad, my business partner Alan, my Best friend and lover Alex, Brother Ben, Curtis Tyree, Uncle Robby and Susan, Dan and Trudy, Teresa ,my day ones Tyler, Jeff, Dertco, JImmy Stephenson Chico,Pride,Fink,Sarge, Peacock, Freighttrain, Rick from 369, Russ, Carlos, Barklage, 2 Wide, Kyle Amez, Danny Murphy, Leland, Doug, Rob Morse, Nick and Ray Bulloch, Sterling Miller, Brett King, Jason Mcniel, Kevin Patterson, Mario D, Cole Reeves, Sean Musselman, Matt Martelli, Killian, Miller, Johny G, Donny Pueto, Jordan an Chrissy, Cody Wagoner, Cooper
So grateful for the love and support these people have shown me.
